History

Crady’s on Main was begun by the Whitley family in October of 2001: Les (daddy), Barbara (momma),  and Heather (daughter).  Barbara is our Master Baker and Les & Barbara’s son, Adam, was the creative genius behind Crady’s Umami.

Les, a retired Coastal Carolina University professor, says he retired and “went to work”.  We call him our former Ph.D., which now stands for “Pot Handler and Dishwasher”. Les helps wherever and whenever he is needed, so you may see him from time to time when you come visit.  Heather is the “‘jack-of-all-trades,” which means you’ll see her doing about everything else except cooking!  She manages the restaurant and handles all catering coordination.

Wondering why none of the family is named “Crady?”  You are not alone.  We get asked this all the time.  Crady is Barbara’s maiden name and the restaurant is named as a tribute to Barbara’s mother, Najgy Crady.

Crady’s On Main is truly a family business in every sense of the word.  Our staff has become a  part of our extended family and we wouldn’t be able to function without their love and concern…not only for us, but for you, our dearest patrons!

Our employees have become part of our Crady’s family and we know they will take care of you as well. Also, we are always thankful for our longtime family friends who are always there for whatever we may need!  We are thankful for all of our staff’s involvement in making Crady’s feel like home to our guests.

We hope this has given you a little insight into our family and wish for you to become a part of our family as well.  Please come in and dine with us whether you are local or in town visiting.

Grandmomma Crady would be so proud!

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun…”
