Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine in Downtown Conway, SC Celebrates 15 Years

Conway, SC–Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine in downtown, Conway, SC is celebrating its 15th Anniversary and what a celebration!

The Conway mainstay that started as a small coffee shop in 2001 has evolved into one of the region’s most talked about restaurants. Serving lunch, weekend brunch and specialty dinners prior to Theatre of the Republic’s performances, their food and service have earned accolades in national magazines and won the hearts of fans throughout the country. They are at the forefront of the short list of restaurants that specialize in fresh-to-table entrees and hand-made pastries and desserts, and they are one of the area’s most sought-after caterers.

At the helm of the success is Barbara Crady Whitley. While Barbara had the passion, it was her late son, Adam, that had the dream.   “Adam was an innovative chef with the ability to offer that ineluctable quality of “umami” into every meal he created,” said Barbara with pride. Barbara should know. It is her loving hands that roll the dough and prepares the filling for her most scrumptious desserts.

While Crady’s opened as a small coffee shop in 2001 serving muffins, pies, cakes and what would become their signature pastry–cinnamon rolls–the menu quickly grew to include quiches, salads and sandwiches and their hours were extended to include lunch. Crady’s not only became a successful restaurant, but quickly became one of the area’s most popular caterers. Today, their beautiful hand-made cakes are on the wish list of local brides and they have been asked to ship cakes as far away as California.

In 2007, with a renovation that included reconfiguring an adjoining space, dinner was added to the menu. While Crady’s currently doesn’t offer dine-in on a nightly basis, they have instituted ‘Gourmet to Go’, accommodating those individuals whose lifestyle does not always allow for time in the kitchen. “You have to change with the times,” said Barbara.

While it’s true that Crady’s has changed with the times, what hasn’t changed is their good food, their insistence upon quality, their service to their customers and their passion!

Join Crady’s as they introduce weekly ‘Look Back’ specials celebrating some of those early dishes that led to their success.
