Conway, SC–Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine in Conway, South Carolina has proclaimed September as Mac n’ Cheese Month.
The ooey-gooey delight that is one of America’s most-loved comfort foods will not only be on the menu all month long, but a different variety will be served each week.

Crady’s, known for its eclectic flair, is sure to please with selections that include:

Week One Grandmomma Crady’s Mac n’ Cheese
Week Two Easy’s Fried Mac n’ Cheese
Week Three Blue Mac n’ Cheese
Week Four Lobster Mac n’ Cheese
Week Five Chef’s Choice

This month-long celebration will kick off August 30 when owner and master baker, Barbara Crady Whitley, features her mother’s famous mac n’ cheese recipe, Grandmomma Crady’s Mac n’ Cheese, as the topic for her monthly cooking class.

“Mac n’ Cheese is a dinnertime favorite,” said Barbara. “While there are many varieties and numerous ways to fix the dish, there are a few basic steps and a couple of secrets that will make your family beg for seconds,” she said. Barbara, who began preparing macaroni and cheese as a young cook at her mother’s side, said this was one of her own family’s favorite foods. As my children were growing up, it was served weekly and if my son, Adam, could have persuaded me, it would have been on our dinner table every night.”

Crady’s, who in 2014, began hosting a Mac n’ Cheese Bake Off in honor of the late Adam Lee Whitley, wanted to try something a little different this year. “We have made some great new friends and tasted some great mac n’ cheese during the past two years. This year, however, we thought it would be fun to give the event a different twist. I am pleased to say that one of last year’s winners, Easy 105.9, is sharing their recipe for Fried Mac n’ Cheese. Their creation is being featured during week two of our celebration.”

It appears that here along the Grand Strand, we’re not the only ones who love Mac n’ Cheese. In any given 12-week period, approximately one third of the US population will eat macaroni and cheese at least once. Maybe we’re just taking our cues after our third US President, Thomas Jefferson, who not only loved mac n’ cheese, but served it at a State dinner in 1802*.
